What a fun afternoon of fall decorating this was! Gathering things that would come together to create a welcoming farmhouse porch was what I set out to do. This style fell into place so easily that I was relaxing on the porch in no time at all.
The star of the porch is a wooden flower cart that I used as a display back when we were running the greenhouse nursery. This small cart with off-white distressed wood and a metal wheel was perfect for holding a galvanized bucket of heuchera, another container of English ivy, and a couple of larger pumpkins with smaller ones tucked in.

Thankfully, the small window box attached under the window on the barn porch was secure enough to hold multiple pumpkins in various sizes. I placed an apple green heuchera by Proven Winners on one end of the window box and a small container of more English ivy on the other side.

If you’re like me, you’re always keeping an eye out for unique buckets and containers. Having them stored back somewhere makes it handy for future projects. I pulled two metal containers out of my storage and planted them with more heuchera to set around the base of the cart.

I thought about picking up a few colorful mums, which would have been very pretty, but I was loving how all the green was popping against the white barn and black furniture, so I decided there was no need for that expense. In fact, the only things I had to purchase were the pumpkins. Being a gardener, I already had the heuchera on hand. The wreath I added above the chair is one I’ve used several times over the years. I’ve had the pillows and throw for a while, and the rocking chairs and black mat have been on that porch for quite some time. Seasonal decorating can get pricey at times, so I was feeling pretty good about this one!

A mix of light bluish green and white pumpkins not only blended well with the pillows and throw, but also gave great contrast against the garden plants and wreath.

All in all, I was pleased with how darling this little spot turned out by using items from my garden and storage.

Let me know in the comments what treasures you’ve pulled from your storage or garden to decorate your fall porch. I love hearing new ideas!
